New
Mill Gala 2006
The church each year enters a float into the
annual gala procession and this year we were fortunate
to win with our own adaptation of Charlie and
the Chocolate Factory. Thank you to everyone who
put so much effort into making the Gala so special
for all the children in New Mill, there were some
excellent floats from Wooldale School and Kirkroyds
Pre-School too.
On Sunday morning we held the Gala Service on
the field there theme of the service was ‘Pressing
on to win the goal’ taken from Paul’s
letter to the Philippians: children helped during
the service by scoring goals (come on England)
and running in the race ~ the winners were awarded
a certificate to show that they were special.
The vicar reminded us that we were all special
and that we all get our reward for running in
the race which is the joy of knowing Jesus personally
and being welcomed home into heaven by God.
Thank you to the Gala Committee, musicians, and
float makers and all who worked so hard to contribute
to the fantastic Gala weekend even if it did start
raining on Sunday Morning.
