Team Rectors Walk

Team Rector heads for the hills in ‘Summer Wine’ country

Rev’d Sean Robertshaw inaugurated a unique walk in the Upper Holme Valley over the weekend of 13th & 14th August in completing a sponsored walk around the 30 mile boundary of the Team Parish. He was accompanied by friends and members from the Holme Valley Churches.

The walk started at Holme Moss at 9.00 am with a short service of dedication and commitment to pray for the Team whilst on the journey. The first day finished with a short reflection and prayer in Stocksmoor Village Hall. The following day in appalling weather conditions the walkers having crossed Snailsden Moor arrived back at Holme Moss car park to a wet but warm welcome from local church folks, before retiring to the Wooldale Arms.

In completing this walk Sean hopes that he will have raised about £6,000 for The Team. The great thing about this walk for me was it was the first time anyone had attempted it, it engaged us with the community and it was despite the weather most enjoyable extending our networks and relationships as a faith community in many positive directions. Thanks to all sponsors and supporters.

Sean said, “All those who supported the walk in what ever way gave something of themselves to it, it was great fun, spiritual and will definitely be attempted again, now we know it’s possible.”
